Did You Know...
The principle of streaming music dates right back to the 1920's when Major General George O. Squire (pictured left) secured US patents for transmitting signals over electrical wires rather than via the airwaves.. Radio receivers were a too expensive and too fuzzy and fussy at the point.
The true potential of this idea of using electrical wires was seen and acted upon and the first sucessful system was implemented in 1936. However, at this point, commercial radio had caught up and was already in the home! So, The Major General helped create the company Muzak who used the Streaming Media technology to pump new music into resturants and hotels across New York City. Indeed, such was the sucess of Muzak, they could offer contracts to the best Composers, Arrangers, Conductors, Singers, Musicians, Engineers.... well the works basically and were/are a cut above the rest!
